The book tells the story of an Iraqi young man holding German nationality who left his country years ago and settled in Germany with his uncle. After a while, he separated from the family business and started his own work. Today, Hashem in his forties has not changed much from what he was fifteen years ago, but time has left some effects on his body, such as losing movement in one of his left hand fingers after being shot and his black hair turning white due to graying.
